TWO KILLED ON SPOT BY SAND QUARRY IN KABALE

In Kabale—

Two people in Kabale have today 31^st March 2021 morning been buried to death in a sand quarry.

The deceased have been identified by Police as; Edwin Nuwagaba 30 years a resident of Nyakonga cell and Simon Arinaitwe 24 years of Rukaranga cell, both in Kamuganguzi sub county Kabale district.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson, the incident happened early in the morning at around 7 am in Rukaranga cell.

Maate told www.mknewslink.com that when the rest of the miners reached the site, they only saw the jackets of the deceased which prompted them to rush back home and ask their relatives who confirmed that the duo had gone to the quarries.

He added that the miners decided to call for police’s intervention after realizing that the two had been covered up by the sand in the quarry.

“Our team immediately visited the scene, did a post mortem before handing over the bodies to relatives for burial,”Maate noted.

He noted that this is one of the quarries that Kabale administration had stopped people from using in a bid to conserve the environment and avoid such incidents.
