Bushenyi district strong and top leaders converged at Tuzza hotel yesterday to resolve a crisis that has been on for about two months.
A meeting that was preceded by a brief discussion of MPs, top opinion leaders as well as NRM leaders first held a meeting that excluded councilors and thereafter converged at Tuzza hall and met councilors who are the main factor in solving the crisis.
Top leaders who attended the meeting are; Tycoons Hassan Bassajabalaba, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha and Michael Mawanda , MPs Cohen Kyampene, Annet Katusiime Mugisha and Iddi Bassajabalaba.
Others are Bushenyi district chairman Prosper Twebaze, NRM district executive, all district councilors , opinion leaders like Amb. Enock Nkuruho, Mzee Johnson Bitarabeho, Peter Rwakifari, Umar Muhanguzi and Justine Burisadi
The meeting had two main agendas; five councilors led by Douglas Mucunguzi who petitioned court and put the district in crisis. Another issue was the three names of the district service commission members who were submitted to Kampala allegedly through an irregular council.
According to the credible source that attended the stormy meeting, the meeting almost came to a compromise whereby the chairman was asked to bring new names to the district service commission and thereafter the five councilors withdraw their case from court and the district becomes functional.
The source intimated to www.mknewslink.com and TV all online that councilors also demanded that district chairman makes a reshuffle within his executive composed the last two months and share the Bushenyi district cake equally by balancing religions, constituencies and sub counties.
The meeting was chaired by Tycoon Hassan Bassajabalaba, who is the district NRM chairman as well as National entrepreneurs’ League chairman and CEC member.
He is supposed to meet five councilors who petitioned court to discuss with them finals so that they can withdraw the case on Wednesday.
The trusted source who attended the meeting revealed to www.mknewslink.com that Hon. Richard Tugabirwe councilor for Kyamuhunga Sub County spilled the beans and told the people who attended the meeting that the problem was Hon. Mawanda versus Silver Mugisha.
Tugabirwe went ahead to say that Mugisha wants to contest against Mawanda in 2031 and Mugisha is a friend to prosper Twebaze chairman of the district therefore Mawanda doesn’t accept anything that is associated to Silver Mugisha.
The youthful councilor went ahead to say that Twebaze is between two people shooting live bullets.
In an interview with www.mknewslink.com and mknewslink TV all online, Prosper Twebaze noted that he was happy about the meeting and was sure that the problems would come to an end soonest.
