The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with Kabale District Health department have launched 2week awareness campaign dubbed the integrated family umbrella with the aim of sensitizing the communities on health seeking behavior
Launching the campaign at Kabale District Council Hall in Kabale Municipality yesterday, the acting Kabale district Health Officer Alfred Besigensi, revealed the campaign will be implemented in Maziba, Butanda, Rubaya, Kamugaguzi, Buhara, Kaharo and Kyanamira Sub counties
Besigensi added that the campaign is aimed at sensitizing the youth, caretakers of children and expecting the mothers on Maternal health, Newborn health, child health, family planning and nutrition among others
According to 2021 to 2022 statistics from the Kabale district health office, 10,766 out of targeted 125,080 mothers visited health facilities for the first antenatal care 7739 out of 12580 visited health services for the last antenatal care services while 18%of women visited for deliveries
Besigensi attributed the community’s poor health seeking behavior to lack of enough information
