WORLD BANK TO INCREASE MONEY ALLOCATED TO EDUCATION SECTOR

The country manager World Bank in Uganda Tony Thompson has revealed that there in need by the government to increase on the money allocated to the education sector as one way of boosting education system.

He made this remarks during a one day Dissemination workshop of World Bank’s 13th Uganda Economic Update at Mbarara University of Science and Technology on 11^th June2019.

Manager Thompson noted that there is still long way to go for Ugandans to acquire better quality education.

0nly 30% of Ugandans do attain standard education across the country both at secondary and primary level as well as at university.

Speaking as the guest of honor the youth mp western region Mwiine Mpaka said that the problem is in the education system but not little salaries paid to teachers.

Mpaka revealed that the syllabus that education sector is following is not marching with the current technology.

He further more noted that this financial year, the government has increased the budget of education from ugx2.7 trillion to around ugx3 trillion shillings.

According to the report released by the World Bank, the totals of 1.4 million pupils drop out of school at primary level every year.
