The Secretary for the Female Youth Affairs in Northern Division Kabale Municipality Sharlote Kemigisha has accused the RDC Darius Nandinda of removing from voting line the NRM youths who had come to vote her in yesterday’s youth Elections.
Ms Kemigisha a renown political activist in Kabale Municipality was contesting on the same seat for Northern Division Kabale Municipality.
Kemigisha who garnered 12 votes lost an election to Cisse Areeta with 17 votes.
However, Kemigisha and her supporters allege that the Election was influenced by the RDC. They said that his presence at the polling venue was intended to intimidate the voters.
Kemigisha said the RDC grabbed from the voting line NRM youths who had decided to stand behind her back, an allegation Nandinda denied.
While speaking to this media house in a telephone interview, the Northern Division Returning Officer, Combozi Emmy said the election had no cases of violence.
He said it was true that the RDC witnessed the Electoral activity, but no interference was made by him or his body guards. Mr. Combozi said a section of youths decided to abstain from voting, though he could not tell whether it had anything to do with the RDC’s presence.
Fortunate Nabimanya a voter from Kijuguta ward said the youths who did not vote were subscribers to the NRM Party. She said they refused to vote in fear of disappointing the RDC because they had wanted to vote for Kemigisha who was an independent candidate.
Nandinda did not explain to this media house why he had exactly gone to the polling station. He however said he was ready to face Ms Kemigisha in courts of law, in case she decided to sue him.
