YOUTH LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM LIMPING IN KABALE, 349M NOT RECOVERED FOR TWO YEARS

Amount of money worth Ug Shs 349,186,708 has not been recovered from the 92 Youth livelihood fund benefiting groups in Kabale district as per Kabale district project’s focal person Moses Akampurira.
Akampurira in an interview with our reporter revealed that of the total amount of 469,507,890 Ugandan shillings that was disbursed under the above program for the two financial years of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016, only 120,321,182 Ugandan shillings has been recovered indicating a 26 recovery percentage.
Akampurira further revealed that the project disbursed Ug Shs 317,435,840 in the 2014/2015 financial year to 60 youth groups and Ug Shs 152,072,890 in the 2015/2016 financial year in greater Kabale district.
Akampurira added that improper allocation of the funds by some youths’ groups has resulted into a major threat in the recovery of the above project’s funds.
He however says that they are using all the means possible so that the whole disbursed funds are fully recovered.
