The Minister of science technology and innovations who is also the university council member for Ankole Western University has vowed that the university will continue taking loans despite the 2.5 billion debts that is pulling down the university.
He said this today Monday 31st Dec.2018 at the university while installing a new vice chancellor rev. can. Wilberforce Kamukama.
Elioda was reacting to a story published on Saturday by www.mknewslink.com disclosing a 2.5 billion debt that the university is struggling with.
He noted that without a debt an institution or individual cannot develop asking whether they know of an institution that has no debts.
The Bishop of West Ankole diocese also chancellor for the university revealed that the diocese will give 100 million to the university in two weeks time to help in paying the debt.
The bishop noted that AWU Sunday will be observed in May or June next year.
The new vice chancellor Rev. Can.Kamukama called upon all stakeholders to work together for the development of the university.
