The State Minister for Agriculture, Christopher Kibanzanga has implored Church leaders to encourage Christians to work hard in a bid to fight poverty.

Hon Kibanzanga who was the guest of honour at the thanks-giving church service at Day-star cathedral Mbarara said churches should not keep Christians in poverty but rather help them to earn a living.

The minister’s advice comes at a time when President Museveni is currently traversing the country addressing gatherings in a drive he says is meant to fight poverty.

Kibanzanga is optimistic that if the church joins the campaign on wealth creation, Uganda will be one of the richest countries in Africa.

On Sunday 2^nd june2019 was a beehive of activities and celebrations as Bishop Nassan Ibrahim Turyamureeba held a thanks-giving ceremony in appreciation to God for the gift of life after he survived a nasty accident early this year, and  having returned safe from America with his family.

Bishop Nathan further urged Christians that as they celebrate Uganda Martyrs day, they should do good things that people will keep remembering when arrive or dead.

In Ruhinda

Hon Kahonda the Ruhinda constituency legislature has donated materials for the completion of maternity ward at Nyakizinga Health centre.

Hon Kahonda donated 65 iron sheets, 50 bags of cement, and ugx500,000= for labor to complete maternity ward at Nyakizinga Health centre.

He donated all these at the fundraising of Nyakizinga Health Centre that was organized at Nyakyizinga.

He also donated Ugx1m to the school and topped it with 50 bags of cement that was delivered two weeks ago.

It was on the same function that Hon Kahonda donated a goat to the parish priest (Rev). 

Hon Kahonda broke the record when he bought a goat at the same fundraising and donated it to his rival who is the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Major General Kahinda Otafiire

Donated also Solar system to Kashensero Health centre 3 maternity-ward and Bikongoro Health Center 2.

In Sheema

Central Ankole diocese of Sheema is constructing a house worth ugx600m as one of the conditions to get a diocese.

The spokes person of the proposed new diocese Dr.Mesharch Katusiime told www.mknewslink.com editor that so far they have spent ugx100m on the house.

He added that they held a fundraising recently and collected ugx400m in pledges and cash.

Katusiime added that the house will be completed next year June.

The quest for diocese for Sheema was hampered by a letter from the province of the church of Uganda suggesting that there is no more creation of diocese however the Sheema Christians continued preparing for the diocese.  

The request for diocese by Christians of Sheema was presented to the highest body diocese synod and proposal was forwarded to the committee of planning and it is working on it.

In Mbarara

Residents in Nombe 2B village, kashare parish, Rubindi sub county mbarara District was shocked when a woman sick with mental disorders killed 7 people of her family and disappeared.

The incident happened on 2^nd june2019 at around 7:30am when Kyomuhangi Lydia aged 65 lost her mind and picked her grand children from their parents, bought for them soda and biscuits gathered them in kitchen eating.

Then she went to the main house with a panga cut her husband identified as Hangamisho George injuring him with several injuries and after went to the next bedroom in which her daughter also mad identified as Kyomukama Annet was tied and chopped her to death.

As that was not enough, Lydia went on to the kitchen where she had left children enjoying drinks and cut all six to death then disappeared immediately.

The deceased were identified as Osbert Nuwamanya 8 years, Oscar Tarimweba 5 years, mercy Owomugisha Baby girl of 6 months, Claire Ankunda 5 years, Adela Orishaba baby girl of 9 months, Apophia kanshabe 10years.

DPC Mbarara led a team of officers to visit the scene and their bodies were taken to Mbarara regional referral Hospital for post mortem.

The other Mzee Hangamisho George was also taken to mbarara Hospital for treatment but in bad conditions.

As the suspect is still on run, it has been established from the scene that  Lydia has been suffering from seasonal madness/mental disorder.

In Kabale

The parish priest of Birambo church of Uganda Rev. Benjamin Masanyu has asked Christians to shun indecent clothes saying that the act is evil.

Rev. Masanyu made the call on Sunday 2^nd 6/2019  while preaching during the thanks giving service for the renovation of church priest’s house held at Birambo church of Uganda in  Maziba sub county Kabale district.

He observed that Christians are increasingly finding comfort in skimpy and tight clothing in total contravention of biblical teachings advising women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety.

Rev. Masanyu also urged couples to cooperate and work together to develop their families saying that most men do not want to work but they want to eat and this has left many families in poverty.

Speaking as the guest of honor during the service, the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Catherine Atwakire Ndamira asked Christians to avoid divisive politics based on religion but focus on developmental projects that will help them to come out of poverty.

The legislator also asked people to take the education of their children seriously and instill good virtues and morals in them saying that this will help them to be successful in future.

In Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri are holding two ladies on allegations of slaughtering cats and sell their meat.

The two have been identified as Kabarungi Primah and Atwebembeire Janet Mediuos all residents of Kafunda cell Karagaro ward Western divison Rukungiri Municipality.

Their arrest followed a complaint from the area local council one Bernard Turyagyenda who complained to police that residents were about to lynch the two accusing them of slaughtering cats which rushed and saved them.

According to Bernard, residents opened a case in his office yesterday, that the two had slaughtered a cat and wanted to sell it as soup in a hotel.

An eyewitness told our reporter that the two had a quarrel yesterday and started demanding from each other pieces of cats’ meat.

The officer in charge of Rukungiri police station Edwin Atukunda, while settling the conflict asked residents to follow the law and avoid accusing each other without evidence.

He said a case file of stealing and killing a cat has been opened against the two as investigations commence.
