SHEEMA NORTH BY ELECTION: POLICE, ARMY DEPLOY HEAVILY AS VOTING IS UNDERWAY

Voting for Member of Parliament has on Monday morning kicked off in Sheema north constituency amid heavy deployment by Police and army.
The competition involves two candidates; Naome Kibaaju NRM and Guma Nuwagaba Betikura FDC.
The deployment attracted exchange of words between the leaders of opposition and st the NRM electoral commission chairman Dr Tanga Odoi. The FDC party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Mwijukye Francis MP Buhweju county, kaginda MP Rukungiri municipality among others say that the heavy deployment will intimidate the voters hence low turn up.
However Tanga Odoi said that the deployment is meant to avoid the funny excuses by opposition who usually complain that they steal their votes.
Justice Simon Byabakama the chairman electoral commission warned those who are ready to bring confusion and chaos in elections to go slow.
Sheema North constituency goes into a by election following the resignation of Minister Elioda Tumwesigye who crossed to Sheema Municipality.
Sheema North constituency has 34575 voters, three sub counties, two town councils, twenty parishes and sixty five polling station.
The tally centre will later be at district headquarters.
