MITOOMA: DISTRICT COUNCIL HALL FOUNDATION COLLAPSES, KILLS ONE, INJURES TWO

One person died on spot, two others were severely injured following the collapse of Mitooma district council hall foundation pit they were digging.

The deceased was identified as Gilbert Kamugisha, one of the casual laborers who were contracted to do the job on the ground level.

One of the survivors was identified as Agaba, another one was yet to be identified by the time we filled this story.

Agaba is currently hospitalized at Kampala International University teaching hospital.

Mitooma district police commander David Epedu said that the soil collapsed at around 2pm burying the three as the group did the work.

He said that it collapsed as the soil had been loosened by rains that poured in the area on Monday.

He advised engineers to use excavator, provide safety measures and put precautions to casual laborers.
