A total of 124 pupils in Rubanda district missed the 2016 primary
leaving examinations.
Primary seven pupils sat their PLE exams on 2nd and 3rd November last year.
According to the Rubanda district Education Officer Celestine Magezi
Muko Sub County had the highest drop outs with 30 pupils, Bubaare and
Nyamweru sub counties with 22 each and Ikumba sub county with 21
pupils.
Magezi however attributes the drop out to early marriage that is
rampant in the district, children who opt to go petty jobs and
negligence of parents.
The Rubanda district Chairman Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema says that they
will sit down and watch education standards declining. He adds that
are to deal with parents and teachers who are neglecting their
duties that are leading to dropouts.
