MAN DETAINED OVER POSSESSION OF STOLEN ATM CARDS IN MBARARA

Police in Mbarara have in custody a 50 year old businessman, a resident of Nansana municipality Wakiso district on charges of being in possession of stolen property.
According to police Muhereza was arrested over the weekend by security guard working with Saracen security Ltd at DFCU bank Mbarara branch where he had swapped a client’s ATM card from the ATM machine.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region police spokes person said that on arresting him Barnabas was found in possession of suspected stolen six ATM cards of different banks.
The banks includes Equity, Centenary, Opportunity, DFCU bank and Barclay’s bank, in the names of Jennifer Draniru, Shallon Nsiimire, Salimah Nantanga ,David Njawuzi, Faridah Nalubega and Patrick Kyomya.
Kasasira said that the same suspect and others were taken to court on charges of kidnap and aggravated robbery calling himself pastor last year but the charges were later dropped by the DPP in Kampala because the complainants lost interest in the case.
He noted that police in its investigations has written to the affected banks to identify with their customer’s ATM cards or if the ATM cards are forged.
