MBARARA RESIDENTS RECEIVE 6OO BAGS OF RICE AS RELIEF AID

600 bags of rice from Office of Prime Minister have been given to residents of Rwakishakizi parish in Nyakayojjo division Mbarara Municipality.
The 600bags of each 50Kgs were given to 1200 households as relief aid after they were recently hit by hailstorm which destroyed their property ranging from plantations to houses.
While handing over the rice to residents, Michael Tusiime the Mbarara Municipality legislator cautioned them on environmental degradation which has lead to repeated hazardous weather occurrences.
Tusiime said that this is the third time the same area has been hit by hailstorm which he contributed to cutting of trees which would act as windbreakers thus calling upon the public to plant trees and protect the environment is such calamities are to done away with.
In his remarks, Jomo Mugabi the Nyakayojo Division chairperson called upon the locals to revive granaries so that they can always prepare for such uncertainties.
Mugabi challenged them that it’s not every time that they will be begging aid from government.
