FOUR RUKUNGIRI COVID 19 TASK FORCE MEMBERS ON SPOT FOR STEALING DONATED FOOD

Four Rukungiri district Covid 19 task force members are on spot for allegedly stealing food donated by well wishers to the task force.
The accused are ;Nuwamanya Isaac alias Kaharuza, Tukamuhebwa Robert, Beyamba Joseph alias Kakamba and Kansiime David alias Rusheshe all working with the district task force.
It is alleged that on 30/04/2020 at around 1800 hrs, the four loaded Covid 19 donated Food from the stores on vehicle pick up Registration no UBB 657F of Kansiime David alias Rusheshe totaling to 170 bags without knowledge of the concerned authorities.
Kigezi region Police mouthpiece Elly Mate told www.mknewslink.com that they immediately received information and opened a general enquiry file (Gef) 06/2020.
He said they also recorded statements from the relevant witnesses and suspects were summoned for statement recording but were bonded out.
Mate also revealed that search was conducted in the premises of Beyamba Joseph and Kansiime David where seven bags of posho were recovered from the store of Beyamba and nothing was recovered from Kansiime David.
Mean while police is to obtain statements from the in charge stores at the district, retrieve books of accounts of covid 19 food then compare the bags of posho recovered from Beyamba with what the district task force has been receiving.
Mate told www.mknewslink.com that once investigations are complete, the case file will be submitted to Rukungiri Resident State Attorney for his perusal and legal advice.
