KABALE: 16 YEAR OLD DEFILED GIRL ARRESTED FOR DUMPING HER BABY INTO LATRINE, POLICE HUNT FOR DEFILER

Police in Kabale are holding a 16-year girl after she allegedly wrapped her newly borne baby boy in a polythene bag before dumping it into pit latrine.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed that the girl is a resident of Kansinga village in Burambira Parish in Kaharo Sub County in Kabale District.
Maate said that the Police rushed to the scene and rescued the one-day old baby having received a tip off from Kapare Robert who hails from the same village.
Maate said that the baby who was immediately rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital is doing well.
“The Police managed to trace the mother of the baby and was arrested and is being detained at Kabale Police Station,” Maate confirmed.
“We have instructed the District Police Commander Kabale to establish if a case of defilement was ever reported at the Police and if not, a suspected defiler must be sought and be arrested since it has been established that the girl was below 18 years,” Maate said.
Maate said that the girl was defiled and the Police must hunt for the suspected defiler.
