MBARARA WOMAN MP CAMPAIGNS: CANDIDATES PROMISE TO LOBBY FOR CONSTITUENCIES, FIGHT GBV

As the entire country looks forward for the fourth coming general elections come 2021 Mbarara woman MP candidates have made promises to their voters.
Ms. Bonny Kashaija who holds the NRM flag says leaders must work in unison to successfully lobby for their constituencies and therefore hopes to Foster unity.
According to Ms. Ritah Atukwasa Bwahika who is standing as an independent candidate ,a specialist in social development gender and a public policy, she will build a sustainable city and resilient communities , technology, skilling and market access , service delivery ,land utilization, gender and social relations.
“I will focus on supporting art and craft, vocational skills, businesses and innovations, sports, forming groups for savings and business ventures and enhancing the private sector plus improving access to loans,” Ms Atukwasa says.
She also promises to fight Gender Based Violence, improve maternal health and sensitize the community about HIV/AIDS.
Mbarara woman MP seat is one of the hotly contested for seats with now 5 candidates that is Bonny Kiconco the NRM flag bearer, Independent candidates Ms.Rhita Bwahika Atukwasa and Dona Kyomugisha, FDC’s Agatha Atusasire, Irene Kajumba of National Unity Platform (NUP).
The seat was created after Mbarara attained city status on July 01st.
Ms. Atukwasa and Dona Kyomugisha are NRM leaning members who rejected the results of the party primaries in September, during the vote counting exercise.
Atukwatsa who was poised to be party flag bearer was accused of inflating the number of votes at some polling stations .Ms.Kinconco petitioned the NRM tribunal and was handed the flag
Ms.Atukwasa rejected the outcome and chose to stand as independent.
