National Resistance Movement-NRM political party strong cadre and media activist Katamba Stephen Muvunya is almost losing all his property over a 36 million debt.
Katamba is a resident of Mutema cell Rugarama parish and the district councilor for Ntara Sub County in Kitagwenda district.
He told www.mknewslink.com that in 2015 when Kitagwenda was still part of Kamwenge district, he met President Museveni during campaigns and they agreed that he authors, prints and distributes a pictorial and editorial magazine titled ‘’The reality of the 5th term of H.E YK Museveni in Rwenzori region’’ focused on NRM achievements in the region.
Authored in August 2015, the magazine was officially launched by President Museveni and other officials including Gen. Salim Saleh, at Ntoroko main playground Ntoroko district in October 2015 ahead of 2016 general elections which the party won massively in the region.
The now worried Katamba, added that President Museveni then instructed Lt. Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso to support them financially so that they could print and distribute more magazines.
“I looked for Nalweyiso but all in vain,so I engaged someone who printed at least 3000 magazines, I mobilized people to distribute them, and other expenses expecting to fully pay using President’s support but up to now I have never received even a single coin,” he noted.
“I have written many letters to State House, engaged the current President’s Principal Private Secretary-PPS Kenneth Omona and cried out to different leaders but they haven’t helped,’’ Katamba explained.
He was on 20th September 2021 arrested by court brokers employed by a one Nasser who printed the magazine, and Mbarara court later allowed both parties to harmonize outside court within one month.
He had previously paid ugx5 million and his premio car has also been confiscated by court brokers and sold at ugx11 million.
When contacted, the PPS Omona said he isn’t aware of the matter referring us to the NRM director of communication & information, Emanuel Dombo.
“This is very sad for our supporter to be affected like this. I don’t know who exactly gave him that order, but if he gave us a copy of his claim we can study it and advise him accordingly,” Dombo reacted.
We also contacted Lt. Gen. Nalweyiso and Gen. Salim Saleh for comments on the matter but all efforts went futile as they didn’t respond by press time.
