RWAMPARA RDC ORDERS FOR ARREST OF TWO COMMUNITY DEV’T OFFICERS OVER UWEP FUNDS

Rwampara District RDC Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi has ordered for immediate arrest of; Rwampara district and Rugando Community Development Officers over failure to account for UWEP and Youth livelihood program funds.

The RDC together with Rwampara social services committee, were yesterday during the  monitoring  shocked to find out that there are ghost youth groups in Lugando Sub County.

The RDC further stressed that they are these ghosts groups that were allocated funds by the both District and sub county CDOs.

Kateera noted that people who received money lacked guidance and sensitization on how to use the funds but they rather used it luxuriously.

He said that almost 100 million shillings is still unaccounted for by the District Community Development Officer and his counterpart of Lugando Sub County.

However, Musiime Lemegio, Rwampara District Community Development Officer told the press that most of the  youth groups who received the funds invested it in other programs.

He denied allegations by the RDC that the youth lacked guidance adding that as the district they brought a team of procurement officers who sensitized the youth on how to use the funds.

He further blamed extension workers and Community Development Officer on the Sub county’ level for failure to follow up the funds on the ground.
