In Kisoro—
The Chairperson of Primary Schools Association in Kisoro Wilberforce Mucunguzi has pleaded with the district Local Government leadership to release funds ahead of schools reopening on January 10th 2022.
Mucunguzi said all head teachers should have reported on 27th December 2021 however majority have not gone back to school because of lack of funds.
He explained that the education department at the district has not released the first and second quarter to allow them spend on cutting grass at the school premises and renovating classrooms that had long been abandoned during the lockdown.
The comments come following a directive from the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataaha Museveni who said all head teachers of Primary and Secondary schools must report two weeks before the official reopening date.
According to Janet Kataaha Museveni, the early reporting of all head teachers will give them ample time to prepare to receive learners and allow them prepare schemes of work in time.
Kisoro Chief Administrative officer Ismail Onzu Musa has instructed all Primary and Secondary school head teachers to report to school and start preparations for Schools reopening on January 10th 2022.
Onzu explained that the district released at least 450,000 shillings for primary schools while secondary schools received 600,000 shillings meant for cleaning the schools.
He noted that head teachers should not expect any money for quarter one because Government has released a new guideline where Government will engage contractors to fix the classrooms
