NTUNGAMO POLICE ON SPOT FOR FAILING TO TRACE MISSING CHILD
By Ambrose Kweronda
In Ntungamo—
Members of a family in Ntungamo municipality, whose 3 year old boy child was kidnapped in December 2021, are accusing police of not doing enough to track suspects.
Joel Ayesiga Kakuru 3, was allegedly kidnapped from her mother at a burial in Nyakibigi village, Kahunga ward Western Division Ntungamo municipality by unknown people on December 8 and efforts by the family to identify the kidnapper or get the child have since been futile.
John Nyesiga, the child’s father says they reported the case to police the same day the child went missing but police have done virtually nothing as far as investigations are concerned.
Ms Evas Kukunda who has been following the case with police says even after the family identified the suspect in the kidnap and handed her to police on December 9, police released her a few hours later on bond without informing them and her bond has been extended from phone multiple times.
Police and family say the child was last seen at the nearby trading centre with a girl of about 15 years who claimed to be related to him.
The Ntungamo district police crime investigation officer Mr Godes Twinamatsiko says police are still investigating the case.
He says they have since made the print out of the phone calls of the suspect and are currently engaging the camera network for footage of the car the family suspects to have been used in kidnapping the child.
