The Kabarole District COVID-19 taskforce has resolved not to allow any unvaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff in schools when they
reopen next week on 10th January.
According to the district COVID-19 Task Force Chairperson Ms. Sarah Ayesiga, allowing unvaccinated teachers will be endangering the lives of innocent learners.
“When our schools reopen on Monday next week, we shall not allow unvaccinated teachers and non-teaching staff in schools, because we don’t want to risk our children,” She said.
Ms. Ayesiga who also doubles as the Kabarole Resident District Commissioner made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with head teachers from Kabarole at the district headquarters.
She said that all teachers in both government and private schools will be required to carry their vaccination cards at school and give a photocopy to their Bosses (Head teachers).
Ayesiga also said that effective next week, they will not be allowing unvaccinated civil servants to access their offices at district headquarters in Kitumba.
The RDC said by Tuesday, Kabarole district had registered 44 new COVID-19 cases.
In her remarks, the acting District Education officer, Ms Elizabeth Kasenene, called on the teachers to handle all the students without discrimination when schools reopen next week.
“I don’t want to hear any teacher using bad language to our learners like abusing pregnant girls, please welcome them and treat them like other students,” She said.
She also challenged all the schools in the District to be ready to adhere to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health in a bid to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The District Chairperson Mr Richard Rwabuhinga also advised teachers to use the first week to orient their students as most of them their minds had switched to different income generating activities.
He strongly warned teachers from tempting to forge the Covid-19 Vaccination Cards threatening to deal with one who would be implicated in the scandal.
