CHRISTIANS, KARASI VS BISHOP JOHNSON: I WILL MEET ARCHBISHOP KAZIMBA ON FRIDAY AND THEREAFTER TO COURT
By Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante
In Bushenyi—
West Ankole diocesan Christians led by Emmanuel Karasi who petitioned the archbishop over unlawful constituting of the synod will meet the archbishop on Friday 1st April 2022 when their 14 day ultimatum is supposed to elapse.
The head of Christians Emmanuel Karasi made the revelation yesterday in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com in Bushenyi town.
Mr. Karasi noted that early morning on Friday 1st April 2022, he will be at the archbishop’s office to know whether the Christians’ problems are to be solved or they go to court when the 14 day ultimatum he gave to the archbishop elapses.
“We gave the archbishop a 14 day ultimatum to have solved our problems or else we are rushing to court to challenge the synod constituted by the Bishop Johnson,” Karasi noted.
A section of West Ankole diocese Christians last week wrote a letter to the Archbishop of Church of Uganda Stephen Kazimba over unlawful constitution of the synod.
West Ankole diocese on 12th March 2022 constituted the 11th Synod which Christians claim was put in place unlawful.
Christians led by Emmanuel Karasi pinned Bishop Johnson Twinomujni of allowing Mbarara and Kampala chapters to have representatives in the synod which is against the constitution of the West Ankole diocese.
They also accused the Bishop of wrongly appointing the diocesan chancellor Marvin Baryaruha.
They contended that instead of the bishop nominating the chancellor, he was rather nominated by a synod member Anthony Katwarana which is also against the West Ankole diocese constitution.
They wanted the head of laity elections to be rendered null and void since the synod that elected them was unlawful.
The Christians demanded that the diocese reconstitutes a new synod as per the law established and wanted to meet with the archbishop to formally discuss some of the issues pertaining their diocese.
