KABALE BASED JOURNALIST KNOCKS TWO PEDESTRIANS DEAD

Police in Kabale are currently investigating circumstances under which a Kabale based journalist knocked two pedestrian dead at Rwakaraba in Northern Division, Kabale Municipality along Kabale Kisoro high way.

Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Bashir Rwegyema 60 years,a resident of Ihimbi cell, Rutoma ward and Moses Asiimwe 28, a resident of Rwakaraba- Kyetobokyeli cell, Kijuguta ward all in northern division of Kabale Municipality.

ASP Maate told journalists that the accident involved motor vehicle reg. no. UBJ 871E Toyota Mark X that was being driven by Kabale based Journalist commonly known as Matama a radio presenter at Hills FM in Kabale Municipality, resident of Kabale Township and the two above mentioned pedestrians.

Maate said that the fatal accident occurred on Independence Day at around 1:10 Pm at Rwakaraba in Northern division of Kabale Municipality along Kabale Kisoro Highway.

He noted that Police visited the scene, postmortem was done and bodies handed over to the relatives for burial.

Maate added that Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident stressing that the driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and is on the run.

He revealed to Reporters that the motor vehicle has been towered and parked at Kabale Central Police station yard pending IOV inspection.
