35-YEAR-OLD MAN KILLS MOTHER OVER LAND IN KANUNGU

The police in Kanungu district are currently holding a 35year old man on allegations of murdering his mother for blocking him from selling her land.

According to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, the deceased has been identified as Pascazia Tumuhirwe 70 years a resident Kashaki village Rubimbwa parish in Kirima sub county of Kanungu district who was murdered by Anthony Niwomurisa.

Maate said that, on the 12/11/2022 at around 02:00am Tumuhirwe while at Kashaki village in the home, was attacked by Niwomurisa in her bed and she was hit using an axe that led to her instant death.

Maate further told journalists that after killing his mother, the suspect reported himself to police in fear of being killed by angry residents.

Scene was visited, processed, the axe was recovered and exhibited and Post-mortem done while inquiries are at hand.

The case of murder was registered at Kanungu Central Police station under reference number CRB 686/2022
