Christians of west Ankole diocese have vowed to take Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni to court if he dares and sells the controversial 75 acres of tree forest land in Katikamwe parish Kabugimbi archdeaconry West Ankole diocese.
The resolution was came to light during a press briefing held at the land in Kyabugimbi today afternoon Aug. 29, 2025.
RTD Rev. Francis Mutambi noted that there was no need to sell the land in Kyabugimbi and then rush and build in Mbarara city.
Rev. Mutambi added that he was not sure whether Bishop Johnson was in a deal with his close associates to steal the money after selling the land.
Benard Makaru a critic of Bishop Johnson’s methods of work told www.mknewslink.com that even if there was a need for diocese to build or buy a building, why not in the towns within the diocese? like Bushenyi, Ishaka and Kabwohe but not in Mbarara city.
One of the residents of Katikamwe parish where the land is located told the media that bishop Johnson had gone overboard and needed to be checked by the Christians and courts of law.
HISTORY OF THE 75 ACRES OF LAND
Originally, it was a communo land owned by the public during the time of RTD Bishop Bamunoba, the public wanted to dispose off the land. Christians of Kyabugimbi approached the then Bishop and church bought it [west Ankole diocese] did farming there for some time and later decided to plant trees.
