Dr. Benson Tusasirwe the brightest surviving lawyer in Uganda has revealed that elections petitions are there in Uganda because of messy elections conducted by the electoral commission and government in general.
He made this revelation while appearing on Morning Breeze today 14th Sept.2026 commenting on 148 election petitions that started being heard today.
Dr. Tusasirwe added that he is particularly interested in the election petition for Rwampara where an independent Dr. Charles Ngabirano defeated NRM flag bearer Hon. Julius Karuhanga.
He noted that in Rwampara east, it is a bit different because it’s NRM fighting against NRM
WHO IS DR. BENSON TUSASIRWE?
Dr. Benson Tusasirwe was born in Kigaga parish Mwizi sub county Rwampara district to Mzee Rugogamu and his wife both dead in early 1960s.
He studied from Mwizi primary school, joined Ntare School for A level where he offered HLG but never made it to Makerere as the only university then because his results were allegedly exchanged, rather he went to Masindi national teachers college and trained as secondary school teacher specializing in English and History.
Shortly after his diploma, he resat senior six and now offered HED/G, taught himself Economics, dropped literature which was a dead spot then.
He was one of the best students who sat that year, joined Makerere university and offered law and without any doubt graduated with a first class degree in the early 1990s which was unheard of at Makerere University and entire Africa.
He was offered a scholarship to European prestigious university where he did his masters then returned to Uganda where he started his career in law. He started his own law firm Tusasirwe and co. advocates as well kept teaching at Makerere University LDC as one of the university lecturers.
Recently, he started a Phd course at Makerere University and completed within a stipulated time as the only Phd graduate in law that year, presented the best research at the time and specialized in commercial law which is the hardest specialty in law.
His law firm which he started is still surviving and has groomed many lawyers in this country.
