POLICE OPERATION LEAVES OVER 50 CRIMINALS ARRESTED IN KABALE

In Kabale—
Police in Kabale district has 57 suspected criminals in detention who
were arrested in an operation last night a head of Easter festivities.
Out of the arrested people 38 men and 19 women and most of them were picked from Bombcha night club and Oasis public in Kigongi ward central division in Kabale municipality.
According to the Kigezi region police spokesperson; Elly Maate the operation was aimed at arresting suspected criminals who hide in happening places and later attack and rob night travelers.
Maate says that police was forced to carry out an operation following an
outcry by dwellers on the increase of theft and burglary among other cases.
He says that all of suspects failed to explain exactly where they stay
neither displaying any identification to the security operatives before
they were arrested.
Maate adds that the suspects who are currently being detained at Kabale
Central Police Station will be screened and others will appear before
courts of law to answer the charges accordingly after investigations into
the matter are complete.
He also noted that the operation will be rolled
out in all areas of Kabale municipality in order to have peaceful
celebrations.
