Ibanda Municipality NRM party elections to elect the flag bear has kicked off this morning in all 238 voting centers.
The District Police Commander Mr. Rogers Cheben told www.mknewslink.com that the security has been tightened and many police officers have been deployed in all three divisions of Bufunda, Bisheeshe and Kagongo to keep law and order during voting exercise.
The party Registrar, Mr. Moses Arimwerenga said the polling materials have been sent to all voting centers, but in some areas the materials have been received late between 9.00am and 10.00 am. All candidates are seen moving up and down in their vehicles to check on their voters and agents.
However, the voter turn-up is still low while many people have not voted because their names do not appear on the register despite having been verified earlier.
Eleven candidates are in the race for Parliamentary seat whereas four are for mayoral seat.
