KABALE HEALTH CENTER IN-CHARGE ARRESTED

Police in Kabale district has arrested the Kyanamira Health centre III
in charge for absconding from duty.
Justus Akankwasa was arrested yesterday morning on orders of Kabale
Resident district commissioner Darius Nandinda.
According to Nandinda the operation followed several complaints from
patients about health workers neglecting their duties to attend to
their private business.
He says that many patients including pregnant mothers and HIV/AIDS
patients who require extra care and attention make fruitless visits to
the government health center because of absence of medical workers.
Nandinda also adds that under the Hakuna Mchezo campaign, he has
visited Kyanamira health centre III over five times, but has never
found Akankwasa at work and this prompted him to call for his arrest.

The Kabale district police Commander Dickens Bindeeba confirmed the
incident. He says that his office had received similar complaints from
patients who get services from Kyanamira HCIII.
He says that police will liaise with District health officer as they
take criminal action, District health office takes disciplinary
action.
