The Archbishop Elect of Mbarara Archdiocese Lambert Bainomugisha has assured the people of Greater Bushenyi that he is not against them getting a diocese.
He said this in a maiden press conference held at Archdiocese headquarters today morning 6th May 2020.
He noted that Pope is the one who gives the diocese but not him adding that however the archbishop can inform the pope then the diocese is granted.
He added that his predeccessor His Grace Bakyenga has been categorical that it is not him the archbishop who gives the dioceses but the Pope.
Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha was appointed into office on 25th April 2020 by Pope Francis .
Today, he addressed his first press conference and the managing editor www.mknewslink.com raised his concern on the diocese of Bushenyi which has been a thorny issue for over 20 years now.
The Archbishop responded by saying that he will ensure that the people of Bushenyi meet the necessary requirements of a diocese and the pope will most likely accept the plea of the people of Greater Bushenyi.
Kitabi and St. Kagwa parishes have both put up the necessities for a diocese and they are both competing for it.
He advised Ugandans to continue observing presidential directives on Corona virus , pray from their homes as a family is the first unit of the church.
Sheilah Nakabuye the NBS bureau Chief asked how the church is making sure that Catholics are not diverted from their faith as some have started learning bad behavior and the archbishop assured her that the church would reach out to its followers through media platforms.
