Parents, students and teachers of schools offering the Cambridge Curriculum are in jubilations since last week after their students excelled in the June 2021 Cambridge International Examinations.
Unlike the Uganda National Examinations Board, which publicly releases the examinations in Uganda, the British council which administers the Cambridge examinations does not divulge publicly the details of individual candidates nor schools.
However, from a survey of the schools’ results seen; there was a general improvement in Cambridge results this year. Many students posted good results. Others however posted exceptionally outstanding results.
From Kabojja International School for example; Chamukazi Melanie Nzirwegye scored A*A*A*A in Physics Chemistry Maths and Computer Science and is so far the best student in the country.
Melanie is a daughter to Mr. and Ms. Bwesigye Marcellino Kyamutetera from Kashenyi, Ishaka Bushenyi Municipality.
She attended Pearl Junior School and scored 4 aggregates in the Primary Leaving Examinations. She scored 16 in 8 in the Uganda Certificate Examination which she sat at St. Mary’s college Namagunga before joining Kabojja International School. She aims to do Astronautic Engineering at the University.
Other schools which sit for these examinations in Uganda include; Taibah College, Vienna College-Namugongo, Galaxy International School, Hana Mixed School-Nsangi, Aga-Khan High school
Kirabila Philip, who was Vienna College’s best student in the GCE exams scored AAA in Physics Chemistry and Maths. He wants to do a course in Mechatronics Engineering at the university.
Stakeholders of all the well performing schools attributed their success to good cooperation between the parents, teachers, and school administrators as well the good care of the students.
