Former Bushenyi-Ishaka parliamentary candidate Mr. Marvin Baryaruha has publically declared that he will not contest for the seat in 2031 because he feels he has done his part and retired.
He said this today afternoon as he gave his speech at the burial of his late mother Ms. Edna Baryaruha in Bwatogo cell, central ward Bushenyi Ishaka municipality.
Marvin Baryaruha has run for the seat twice; in 2021, he lost to Derrick Kabuura Baimukye and lost to Idd Bassajabalaba in 2026.
According to Baryaruha, he has decided to leave politics because friends and voters showed a lot of zeal and support when he lost his mother till her burial but could not express the same charisma and zeal during the election.
He eulogized his mother as a strong woman, hardworking, respectful as well as a responsible parent.
Ugandan deputy Head of Mission in Brussels Amb. Franklin Katungwe hailed the children of Edna Baryaruha for caring for the mother when she needed them the most and advised them to remain united as a family.
In the president Museveni’s speech read by the deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa, he came to know the late Edna at Bweranyangi Girls SSS where he was a licence teacher while she was a student teacher.
Tayebwa has assured the people of Bushenyi that the contractor for the Mbarara Ishaka road will soon start work since the contract is already awarded.
The Anglican Church was heavily represented by three serving Bishops, one retired Archbishop and well as a retired Bishop. The Bishops are Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni the host, Rt. Rev. Sheldon Mwesigwa of Ankole diocese, Rt. Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe from South Ankole. Present was His Grace Stanley Ntagali retired Archbishop and Emeritus Bishop Yonah Mwesigwa Katonene.
