EXCLUSIVE: FRESH INVESTIGATIONS AGAINST KARASI COMMENCE

IN BUSHENYI—

The former Bushenyi district Speaker; Emmanuel Karasi is in trouble as the regional director of public prosecutions has ordered Bushenyi police to conduct fresh investigations against him for allegedly having swindled over Ug. Sh 35 million through operation wealth creation program.

Records indicated that in 2015 when he was still the district speaker, Karasi received tea seedlings worth sh.35million from a supplier who was contracted by NAADS secretariat.

However, when auditors came to verify the supplied tea seedlings and the beneficiaries, Karasi could not show them where he had planted the tea seedlings.

It was established by the NAADS auditors that Mr. Karasi doesnot own a single tea garden in the whole of greater Bushenyi. According to sources he[Karasi] allegedly shared the money with the supplier without supplying even a single tea seedling.

The auditors reported the matter at Bushenyi central police station and Karasi escaped from being arrested until he came to police raising new issues pertaining to the tea seedlings.

His file was called by the regional Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Mbarara after it was sanctioned by Bushenyi resident state attorney.

In an exclusive telephone interview with the www.mknweslink.com editors early today Aug. 08, 2017,  Janiffer Amumpaire;the Regional Director of Public Prosecutions confirmed that she has sent the file back to Bushenyi and recommended fresh investigations against Karasi.

However, still Karasi can’t appear in public as he fears being arrested any time.
