In Sheema—
The minister for science innovation and technology Dr Elioda Tumwesigye, has revealed that some journalists were hired to tarnish his name before, during and after the recently concluded Sheema municipality elections.
Speaking in a meeting held at ICOBI offices in Kabwohe, Sheema municipality on Sunday that involved his polling station coordinators and agents, Dr Tumwesigye said that his team didn’t torture any journalists.
“None of my team beat or tortured any journalist, some journalists such as Sheikh Abdurhatif, Wiziri Ddamba and others were hired by FDC to tarnish my name,” Dr. Tumwesigye said.
The Minister also revealed that the FDC led by their Candidate Ms. Virginia Plan Mugyenyi connived with the journalists and boda boda men to attack his camp.
“They had a meeting at Sheema hall play ground with Virginia and boda boda men where they agreed to come here and burn our buildings, when they reached here they started throwing stones and pangas to our cars, buildings and people inside, but when police chased them they wrote funny stories about us.” He emphasized.
Dr. Elioda also refuted claims connecting him with Jordan Amanya saying, “for me I have never talked to Jordan before and after elections, I don’t know him and he has never campaigned for me; he was fighting for his co Director Mr Jonas.”
Jordan is also connected with assault of Ddamba Wiziri a journalist with vision group at Kibutamo on the polling day.
