GOV’T SUPPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE IN ISINGIRO, MBARARA

Government has secured over 127 billion shillings grant from World Bank to support infrastructural development in Isingiro refugee host district and the two municipalities of Mbarara and Ntungamo in the south western region.
State minister for lands, housing and urban development Chris Baryomunsi said the money is part of the second phase of World Bank program under Uganda support to municipal infrastructure development (USMID).
He said this during the commissioning of six kilometer roads constructed with support from world bank in phase one.
Baryomunsi said that a total of 86.5 billion shillings will be used for the construction of 16 more kilometer roads in Mbarara municipality, while 14 billion shillings will also be used for the improvement of roads in Ntungamo district.
He added that the rest of the money totaling to 26.8 billion shillings is committed to refugee hosting district of Isingiro to help people in acquiring land titles, develope proper Physical plan for the area and improve road network as well.
In his Speech, President Y.K Museveni emphasized the need to sensitize people not only to engage in subsistence agriculture but also do commercial farming in order to increase their household income so as to support and benefit from such infrastructural developments coming up in their respective localities.
