Investigations done by www.mknewslink.com indicate that the strike at Bassajabalaba was as a result of sexual harassment from male teachers to female students.
www.mknewslink.com uncovered that before the students’ strike, they wrote a note that had many factors but sexual harassment was among them.
www.mknewslink.com visited the school on Friday 11th March 2022 and had a long discussion with the head mistress Ms. Zamra Nakaranzi who even pulled out a report by the head prefect which carried sexual harassment as one of the reasons why students were unhappy in the school.
The 12 students who allegedly burnt the school were arrested, taken to Bushenyi from where they were transferred to Kampala to homicide department.
They were brought back to Bushenyi after one week; 6 were released on police bond while the 6 appeared before court.
A board member who never wanted to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter told www.mknewslink.com managing editor that the headmistress Ms. Zamra Nakaranzi has deliberately refused to wipe out the vice from Bassajabalaba Secondary school.
The board member added that the vice can’t be eliminated by the headmistress because she has failed.
The chairman board of governors noted that they should appoint a new head teacher who is able to eliminate the vice from Bassajabalaba|
In an interview with www.mknewslink.com, she noted that she has tried by all means to investigate the allegations of sexual harassment on female students but in vain.
