MUSEVENI COMMISSIONS BASSAJJABALABA’S TEA FACTORY IN BUSHENYI

President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned Global Tea factory owned by tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba in Kyamuhunga Bushenyi district. The factory produces four million kgs of processed tea every year.
The President who has been on a one-day tour of Bushenyi district commended Basajjabalaba for the establishment of the tea factory.
At the commissioning ceremony held at the factory premises, President pledged to work on high cost price of fertilizers and bridging finance for tea farmers.
President Museveni noted that he is optimistic that the consumption of tea on the international market will increase once the quality of tea seedlings is improved.

He said if the farmers were accessing the fertilizers at a low price they would be able to produce much more than what is needed by both the local and international processing plants.
He also commended government for delivering two million tea seedlings every year but asked that they should always be delivered in time.
Earlier, President Museveni commissioned Swazi tea factory in Kyamuhunga town council owned by Africano Bakihawenki.
