Rubirizi district councilors on Thursday passed a resolution of sending away their RDC Ms Harriet Nakamya accusing her of attending district council with fire arms.
Out of 22 councilors who attended the council, 18 supported the motion, 3 councilors didnt vote and only one opposed the motion.
The motion was moved by Steven Katesiigwa and passed on Thursday during the end of year council session that was held at Rubirizi district headquarters.
The Rubirizi district chairman LCV Fr. Sylvester Agubashongwire told www.mknewslink in a telephone interview that the RDC always comes to the council armed which threatens councilors.
The chairman added that she always opposes the council resolutions and this is lagging the district behind in terms of development.
Councilors also accused her of being corrupt and conniving with a few individuals to support corruption especially stopping parents from paying little school fees in UPE schools yet UPE funds are not enough to facilitate the smooth running of education in schools.
Agubashongwire added that the role of the RDC is to monitor government services but not to make her own laws.
When www.mknewslink.com contacted RDC Harriet Nakamya, she said that there are high numbers of school dropouts in Rubirizi district mainly caused by the money imposed on parents in UPE schools.
Nakamya added that the district is imposing high taxes on poor population of Rubirizi especially in Kyambura town council which is hindering businesses.
