Police in Kabale are hunting for unknown woman suspected to have stolen a one year and eight months old baby boy.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the victim as Joshua Ahumuza son of Alfonse Tumuhimbise and Annet Rukundo residents of Kikungiri cell Mwanjari ward Southern division Kabale district.
It’s alleged that on the 30/01/2022 at around 12:00hrs, an unidentified woman went to the victim’s home and found the thirteen year old house maid with the two children, the victim and a seven year old sibling while the parents had gone for their usual work.
Maate narrated the suspected woman deceived the maid that was the children’s aunt and that she had talked to Rukundo their mother who said was coming back from work at around 16:00hrs.
She deceitfully got both children that she was going to buy for them something from the shop.
While on the way, she told the old child to go back home and ask the maid what she wanted for herself, and before the child could return, she had disappeared with the baby.
They communicated to parents who responded and started search but in vain hence reported to Kabale CPS.
Maate said that the suspect is said to have been dressed in red dress, had a face mask, and with plated hair covered with a piece of cloth.
Anyone with knowledge of the suspect and her whereabouts, should notify police so that she is brought to book.
A case of child trafficking was recorded at Kabale CPS vide registration number CD 33/30 /01/ 22 as further inquiries into the matter continue.
