WEST ANKOLE DIOCESE: ARCHBISHOP YET TO SOLVE WRANGLES BETWEEN CHRISTIANS, AND BISHOP JOHNSON
By Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante
It remains hours to a 14 day deadline when Christians and their leader Emmanuel Karasi will be given a solution to the problems raised to the archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stephen Kazimba in a letter.
Christians wrote to the archbishop 13days ago demanding for answers on why the Bishop of West Ankole diocese Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni constituted a synod illegally.
www.mknewslink.com managing editor tried to reach out to the archbishop and the provincial secretary but his efforts were fruitless as the archbishop could not pick his calls.
The chief petitioner Emmanuel Karasi noted that he has also not spoken to the archbishop but he will by tomorrow morning be in the archbishop’s office to demand for answers.
He added that if the archbishop doesn’t give him satisfactory answers, he will definitely rush to court to challenge Bishop Johnson for constituting the synod illegally.
A section of West Ankole diocese Christians last week wrote a letter to the Archbishop of Church of Uganda Stephen Kazimba over unlawful constitution of the synod.
West Ankole diocese on 12th March 2022 constituted the 11th Synod which Christians claim was put in place unlawful.
Christians led by Emmanuel Karasi pinned Bishop Johnson Twinomujni of allowing Mbarara and Kampala chapters to have representatives in the synod which is against the constitution of the West Ankole diocese.
They also accused the Bishop of wrongly appointing the diocesan chancellor Marvin Baryaruha.
They contended that instead of the bishop nominating the chancellor, he was rather nominated by a synod member Anthony Katwarana which is also against the West Ankole diocese constitution.
They wanted the head of laity elections to be rendered null and void since the synod that elected them was unlawful.
The Christians demanded that the diocese reconstitutes a new synod as per the law established and wanted to meet with the archbishop to formally discuss some of the issues pertaining their diocese.
