Police in Mbarara city have mounted a manhunt for a private security guard attached to Sting Private security company who shot and killed his colleague under unclear circumstances on January 19.
The Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, SP Samson Kasasira, identified the deceased as Justus Mwetise, a security guard with Sting Private Security Company.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was allegedly shot by his co-worker Alex Nayebare with whom he has been working at Ankole Farmer’s Sacco offices in Biharwe.
According to Kasasira, Nayebare abandoned the rifle he used while committing the crime and escaped to his residence in Katete.
Twetise’s lifeless body was found seated in a chair with his rifle strapped to his chest and surrounded with blood.
The body has since been transported to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
