Residents of Ndorwa West have vowed not to re-elect State Minister for Trade, Industries, and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, citing his failure to fulfill the promises he made during previous campaigns.
They made these remarks this week during campaign rallies for Counsel Eliab Naturinda Mporera, a hopeful Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West. The rallies were held across several sub-counties, including Kabale Roundabout, Katuna, Ryakarimira, Butanda, Rubaya, and Bigaaga, and concluded at his residence in Bunagana Cell, Kamuganguzi Sub-county
Tubederana Caleb, a boda boda rider from Buraba Parish in Kahungye Sub- County, said Minister Bahati pledged to support orphans because he himself is a double orphan, but he has never extended help to even one orphan in the area.
“He only supports the children of the rich. The poor have been left out,” Caleb lamented. “He also promised to improve roads in Ndorwa West, especially the Buraba–Rubaya road, but since he became MP, there’s been no progress. When you look at our roads, it’s as if we don’t have a leader.”
Muhumuza Geoffrey, a resident of Mushaje B in Butanda Sub- County, accused Minister Bahati of making pledges to churches that he never fulfills. He also echoed concerns that the minister only associates with wealthy individuals and neglects the ordinary citizens.
Geoffrey urged fellow voters not to accept bribes in exchange for their votes. “Don’t be swayed by money. Let’s vote for young and committed leaders like Hon. Eliab Naturinda, who understands the challenges of ordinary people,” he said.
Lydia Tumushabe, another resident of Butanda Sub- County, said that the poor state of roads in the area has led to tragic consequences, especially for pregnant women.
“Our roads are terrible. By the time a pregnant woman reaches the health center, some lose their babies along the way. It’s heartbreaking,” she said.

While addressing supporters during a grand homecoming procession, Counsel Eliab Naturinda Mporera said the people of Ndorwa West are tired of being used and forgotten.
“Our people are tired of leaders who only remember them during campaign time. We deserve better,” he said.
He encouraged voters to stand firm in the face of alleged voter intimidation and bribery. “The power to choose leaders lies with you. You are the government. Don’t let anyone intimidate or deceive you. This election must reflect your will,” Mporera emphasized.
He called for peaceful and transparent elections and urged his supporters to remain at polling stations to witness the vote counting process.
