In Fort Portal—
The Vice President of Uganda, Rtd. Major General Jessica Alupo, has joined thousands of mourners at Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal Tourism City to pay her last respect to the fallen King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
Addressing mourners and the people of Tooro, Vice President Alupo called for unity and strength during this difficult period, saying the loss of the King is a painful moment for the kingdom.
Alupo described King Oyo as a leader who contributed to the social and economic development of his people, particularly through initiatives aimed at empowering communities.
She urged the people of Tooro to remain united as they mourn their King.
The Vice President’s message was later translated into the Rutooro language for the mourners and Tooro subjects by the Musuga, Charles Kamurasi.
However, shortly after the Vice President’s departure, heavy winds, rain and a storm hit the palace, disrupting activities and forcing mourners and other people at Karuzika to seek shelter.
