Three people have died and 10 others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash involving a Toyota Hiace Drone registration number UA 836AM along the Ishaka–Kagamba Road in Bushenyi District.
The crash occurred at about 4:40 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Omukatagu, when the vehicle, which was carrying mourners from Kashaka in Mbarara District to Rwererere in Rukungiri District, was involved in an accident.
According to preliminary investigations, the crash happened after the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a corner due to excessive speeding while travelling along the Ishaka–Kagamba Road.
The injured victims were rushed to Kampala International University (KIU) Teaching Hospital and Kitagata Hospital, where they received medical attention.
Traffic Police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura urged motorists to observe speed limits, especially when approaching corners and other high-risk sections of the road.
Police are yet to release the identities of those killed and injured in the road crash as investigations into the incident continue.
