Bushenyi district local government headquarters and the entire district is awash with rumours that the district chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba has tested positive for covid 19 and has been transferred to isolation.
When www.mknewslink.com managing editor contacted Jaffari on phone today afternoon, he was on his way to Kampala, samples were taken and the results are yet to come.
A source close to Jaffari’s family told www.mknewslink.com that he tested positive and has been transferred into isolation.
The source told www.mknewslink.com that the DHO said that there was only one case of COVID 19 which is of the district chairman Jaffari.
Source added that he drove to Mbarara referral hospital before he continued to Kampala because according to him, he suspects foul play in regard to the on going politics.
The chairman Bushenyi district covid 19 task force Jolly Tibemanya who was on his way from Kampala told www.mknewslink.com that he would brief the media after studying the situation in Bushenyi from his Juniors.
Jaffari’s office at Bushenyi Local government has been closed and all the staff plus those neighboring the office have been taken into isolation.
The CAO Malik Mahab who was in Masaka attending a workshop said he was waiting for a briefing from his deputy.
A Source who attended a meeting CDOs chaired by deputy CAO at the district revealed that he instructed them not to visit any office at the district but rather rush home warning that they have COVID 19 cases at the headquarters.
According to the DHO Dr. Edward Mwesigye, no case has yet been confirmed in Bushenyi but they are waiting for the samples that were taken this week.
All the gates to the district headquarters are locked, the main gate is also locked but before one enters, he or she is tested with temperature gauge, sanitized and address contact taken.
