President Yoweri Museveni has met leaders of Greater Mubende leaders at St. Peter’s Technical School in Kyatelekera Sub-County in Mubende Municipality.

Mr. Museveni who is in a wealth creation country tour pointed out that the lack of prioritization and extravagance as some of the factors that impede development in Uganda.

He said that what is disturbing Ugandans are three things: sleeping all the time, lack of prioritization and extravagance by organising expensive parties.

“This is so wrong when you consider that a big number of Ugandans have remained in subsistence farming, yet we are in modern times that need money,” the President said.

He added: “We must focus on enterprise selection; those with small landholdings should concentrate on intensive farming like growing fruits, poultry, and piggery activities, among others, to increase household incomes. We should also desist from wetland destruction by cultivating in them, but use their periphery for fish farming.”

Regarding infrastructure development, he said government is constructing the Kakumiro-Kagadi road and shall tarmac the Masindi – Kigumba, and Kakumiro – Buhimba roads.

“I am also aware of the rampant land disputes in this region.”

He reminded that during the protracted armed people’s liberation struggle, most of the landlords run away but they came back because NRM brought peace.

“They didn’t do what we advised them not to; collecting excessive rent and not to evict people. But we can come in and resolve all these.”

QN: Tell us briefly who you are?

Answer: Martin Rushegyera was born in 1980 from Rwenjeru parish, Nyakabirizi Division, Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality to Eliezari Rushegyera and kyorayende Jane. I attended Bweranyangi Boarding Primary School, joined Pioneer high school for O’level, Ruyonza School and St John’s Sec School for A ‘level. I graduated from St. Augustine university of Tanzania with a diploma in Information Technology

QN: are you married?

Answer: yah! Am maried with two children. My 1st born is in s.2and the 2nd born in P.7, and they both study from Kampala. My wife is abroad

QN: What do you do now and where do you stay?

 Answer: currently I work as a country manager with a company called wave  dealing with money transfers all over the world. Its head quarter is in USA. I stay in my home village and sometimes in Kampala

QN: why are you joining politics?

 Answer: I just want to consolidate what our fathers and brothers Fought for.

 QN: who are those?

Answer:  one is my father E. Rushegyera who strongly supported NRA rite from the beginning in 1980 up to his death in 2006.  his Excellency gave him a meddle as an  appreciation for his struggle to liberate this country.He had recruited so many fighters from Bushenyi and other parts of the country even some of them are now Generals in UPDF.

QN: which of the Ugandan political parties do you belong to?

Answer: As I mentioned earlier its automatic that I belong to NRM.

 QN: why do you want to stand on a mayoral seat not any other post?

Answer: I want to serve my people who are nearer to me other than going to Kampala

In Kampala

Fresh details have emerged regarding the recent heist at DFCU Bank in which hackers made away with $2.6 million.

On Friday, www.mknewslink.com reported a heist where hackers stole shs 700 million customers’ deposits.

We learnt that the masterminds breached some accounts in Kampala late last month and accessed the cash.

Whereas DFCU top management reported the matter to Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) in Kibuli, Kampala, they have concealed details regarding the heist, this website reported Friday.

Our story further indicated that the crime was executed by four junior staff and two outsiders who have since been arrested and are currently in police custody.

Fresh Details

Through our investigations, we have established that DFCU Bank reported a case at CIID headquarters Kibuli with a reference number, CID HDQTRs GEF604/2019.

Sources revealed that shs 700 million was stolen through ATMs while more 8 billion was withdrawn from customers’ accounts in many branches across the city.

The hackers cracked the bank’s system and started using “old unauthorized ATM cards” allegedly belonging to a number of pseudo customers “created by these hackers.”

The heist was masterminded by insiders and outsiders who are well conversant with modern technology used by several banks in Uganda.

“Customers who were involved in the heist were asked to report to the bank that their ATM cards were stolen and therefore these cards were blacklisted by the Bank and issued new ones. But because the system had been compromised, the same ATM were used to withdraw money,” said a source.

This means that the fraud has been ongoing for a longtime in the bank, until the top management learnt of it.

Whereas, DFCU reported the matter to CIID, details have been concealed for fear of losing customers.

On Saturday, the detective handling the case declined to divulge details when contacted.

Earlier, CIID spokesperson Mathias Twine told www.mknewslink.com that no case had been reported nor suspects held over the heist.

The head of communications at DFCU Rukh-Shana Namuyimba when contacted said she wasn’t aware of any hacking.

“I am not in position to comment because I am not aware of that.”

In Kazo

Residents of Kyengando III cell Engari sub-county Kazo district are in shock after they found a dead body of a 6 month pregnant woman floating on a dam.

The deceased has been identified by police as Jennifer 30 years.

Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region police spokesperson said that preliminary investigations show that, the deceased had gone to fetch water for the cattle at the dam, before she drowned.

Kasasira added that Jennifer used to suffer from epilepsy which they suspect to have caused her drowning into the dam.

He said that investigations into the matter are ongoing.

 At the World University Games in Naples Italy this evening, Shida Leni of Bugema University, won Silver Medal in the Women’s 400 metres.

Having been knocked out in the Semi-Finals in the two previous editions 2015 & 2017 of the Games, her coaches Kevin and Sue O’Connor for the last 6 years gave her the target of reaching the Final.

However, Shida not only reached the Final, but came second in 51.64 sec-only narrowly behind the winner (Paula Errejon of Mexico 51.52 sec).

Kevin observed: “Shida ran a well-judged race, and despite this being her first global championship final, she showed little sign of nerves. With all due respect to FISU TV, their commentators made a number of errors about Shida, most especially that she was the ‘favorite’ tonight. For although she was the fastest of the semi-finalists, 3 women in the field had faster personal best (PB) times than her, one of whom was the eventual winner. An analysis of these PBs emphasizes the extent of Shida’s achievement.”

She has broken Uganda’s National 400m record (which had previously stood for 10 years), 6 times since February 2018, and despite windy conditions in Naples, she came very close to her National Record of 51.55 sec.

Shida recently also qualified for the World Championships in Doha which is slated to take place in September 2019.

According to her Coach Kevin, track sessions, hill training, swimming etc has been the reasons as to why she achieved this.

Another important reason has been weight-training at the Espace Gym, Silver Springs Hotel – despite her tall and slender frame, she is immensely strong, and this strength and power has been converted into speed.

Tea Farmers in Bitooma town council Bushenyi District have appealed to government to intervene following the fluctuating prices of tea leaves.

Majority of farmers in the district derive their livelihood from tea growing.

A kilogramme of unprocessed tea now costs Shs250 down from Shs500.

Some farmers say that they left planting of banana plantations, pineapples and coffee thinking that tea would eradicate poverty in their families but it is not the case

Others say they have failed to raise school fees for their children.

Pulitazio Tumwiine, a resident of Kashambya Bitooma town council Bushenyi district said that he is going to uproot tea and plant coffee.

Evans Ahimbisibwe, a resident of Kimuri Bitooma town council said that the government should intervene before they resort to banana plantations and pineapple gardens.

This is not the first time tea farmers are coming out to wage their complaints but they have not yet received any help from the government.

Robert Asiimwe a prime suspect in the murder of Emmanuel Mugarura a brother of Christian instruction has opened up to detectives on circumstances under which the latter died.

Mugarura 46 was a superior general of Brothers of St Charles Lwanga locally known as Bakarooli of Kyotera district.

On July 3^rd 2019 police arrested Asiimwe after he hired a truck to dispose of Mugarura’s lifeless body which he had covered in tarpaulin.

Upon his arrest, Asiimwe was taken to special investigations department in Kireka Kampala for intense interrogation.

Officials briefed about the case say Asiimwe whose tuition was being paid by Mugarura confessed to killing his benefactor whom he said had sexually abused him for many years.

“Right from secondary school, now up to university I was being subjected to sexual abuse because he paid my school fees. A time came and the situation was unbearable, he refused to let me go and we fought.  That’s how he died,”Asiimwe told detectives.

Asiimwe’s confession has since gained credence after the deceased’s mother said his son ( Mugarura) at one time insisted on sleeping in the same bed with his colleague Asiimwe

“My son was helping many children but among them he was very close to Asiimwe who was like his real brother. The last time they were here for Easter I tried to prepare a separate bed for his visitor but he refused saying is his brother, they would sleep in his bed together,”Mugarura’s mother told mourners.

Minister for general duties in the office of the prime minister who is also the Bushenyi district woman MP lay Can. Mary Karoro Okurutu has ranted on people who talk ill about President Museveni saying that they are enemies of this country.

Karoro who earlier before said that Museveni is a Godly given leader again praised him for being a good leader of Uganda.

She said these when she was delivering Museveni’s speech during the Kibubura girls’ secondary school old girls re-union that was held at the school premises in Ibanda Municipality Ibanda district on 6^th July 2019 that was aimed at raising money to build a home economics/food and nutrition laboratory that will cost Shs.395, 125,820.

She thanked Kibubura girls school for the plan of setting up a nutritious lab saying that nutrition is vital.

In Mr. Museveni’s speech, he called upon all institutions of learning to educate the youth through promotion of good morals.

Mr. Museveni said that if the nation is to be preserved for tomorrow; the youth must be prepared by instilling in them values that will help them to be health and wealth.

He added that the mission of NRM government is to transform Uganda from a poor peasant society into a modern industrial, united and prosperous society.

Looking into the future of the country, Mr. Museveni noted that the strategic focus is on having a harmonious, peaceful, secure, united, democratic and fast developing or developed Uganda that exhibits ethics and integrity.

He commended Kibubura girls senior secondary school old girls for their relentless efforts in uplifting their school and therefore called on old students to play back in their schools saying most old students associations have supplemented government efforts in very many ways adding that together we can build our country and improve the current situation in partnership with the government.

Mr. Museveni donated Shs.100M towards the Laboratory construction.

The event was attended by the Bishop of North Ankole diocese Amos Magyezi, the Bishop of Ankole diocese Dr. Sheldon Mwesigwa, Ibanda district Woman Mp Jovline Kaliisa and Ibanda district leadership both, civic, politicians and clergy.

In Bushenyi

Primary teachers in Bushenyi have been tipped on how to boost their teaching skills to enable their students pass exams with good marks.

 In a one day teaching practice that was held at Bushenyi Multipurpose hall today 5^th July 2019 organized by an education team from Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality, primary teachers for both subjects have been inducted by senior examiners from the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) showing them ways to tackle tricky topics for the students.

These tackled some topics from Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies to the teachers.

The one day teaching practice was attended by primary teachers, head teachers from greater Bushenyi schools and others nearby.

Giving her remarks, the Senior Inspector of Schools in Bushenyi, Tumubwaine Bagira Annie appealed to all head teachers to build relationships among staff they lead and ensure respect to each other for better performance in their schools.

Teachers have been also asked to put new ideas that they have learnt into considerations for better change.

In Rubirizi

Police’s Human Resource based at its headquarters in Kampala has suspended SP Dick Ayesigyomwe on allegations of mishandling a case that involves the theft of goats belonging to the Chief Justice Bart Katurebe.

Ayesigyomwe was interdicted three weeks ago following the mismanagement of the case collusion in the theft of goats.

The greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SP Martial Tumusiime confirmed to www.mknewalink.com that the Ayesigyomwe will wait for the decision from police headquarters in Kampala.

Facts about the case are that goats were stolen from the farm in Kiruhura and sold in Rubirizi but the DPC never handled the case professionally.

It is also said that CJ Katurebe complained several times and eventually the DPC was suspended.
